Gnosis

Alright, so. Gnosis.

I've been searching and working and studying and learning, but this topic has fumbled me through the better half of my life. Not because it sounds esoteric, but that I gathered multiple meanings of gnosis and what it entails.

The first definition I got is the least likely definition you'd think of as a first. Gnosis is a state of consciousness wherein you're in-tune with the spiritual realm. Some might link this to be like in a trance or invoking a higher power like in prayer or chanting. Of course, that would make it seem like a good mindset while doing magick or stuff. Some would associate gnosis with the feeling you get when and if you take psychedelics. And that is linked to the next definition.

I gathered that ayahuasca gives the experience of a lack of ego. It might only be temporary, but it is proundly life-changing. Because then you know what it feels like if your ego is more silent. You'd feel more connected. That's what I gathered anyway. I in no way am saying you should go give it a try, especially since there are some other ways that are more accessible to lower down the volume of the ego and listen to what is really you, but it's something to think about as we gain more knowledge regarding ourselves. So what's this definition? Gnosis is the lack of the ego.

The third definition I gathered was knowledge. Lol you'd think this is the first definition I found out. It kinda surprised me that it wasn't the first when I actually searched for the word. It kinda gets linked to the opposite of agnosticism. An agnostic does not fully believe in the lack or presence of god unlike the gnostic theist or the gnostic atheist. They "know" they're right. An agnostic doesn't. I'd say both gnostics have faith that they're right, but the agnostic wouldn't give faith a chance.

The fourth definition is the gnostic inner knowledge, the intuitive thing and stuff. It's an esoteric philosophical doctrine. It's kinda contradictory at an angle, but makes sense on a different angle. Gnosis being inner knowledge would entail that it is intuition or archetypal in the grand scheme of things. Gnosis would then be knowing you are not doing, but being.
