Logistician

By Sunder

I stare longingly at the open window
As I take a sip of my aromatic brown coffee.
The warmth of my hands reached top to below,
Being alone gives me much needed energy.

The sights I see, I see every detail.
The smells I smell, I remember very well.
I read the fancy handwriting of the mail
From my one and only dearly beloved Rachel.

She asked how I've been--
Did I finish this year's resolution?
Every goal has been complete, I'm keen,
As I did everything with utter devotion.

We laughed, we danced, we cried.
Rachel and I did almost everything together.
She has always been by my side.
Everything we ever did, I remember.

I stare longingly out the open window,
As I take another sip of my brown coffee.
Sitting here is relaxing and comforting, no?
Being content in the present, the past makes me happy.
